Cheriton Bishop

Welcome to Cheriton Bishop

Cheriton Bishop is a rural community located on the outskirts of Dartmoor, positioned close to the A30. While the majority of the village falls within the Mid Devon region, a portion of it lies within the boundaries of the Dartmoor National Park. The name “Cheriton” has its origins in Old English, signifying a “town centred around a church.” The village has a close-knit community, who put on a variety of fun events and run local clubs throughout the year –  including a local walking group, gardening club, lunch club and much more!

The village is surrounded by picturesque countryside, making it an ideal location for those who appreciate the natural beauty of Devon. It offers a tranquil and idyllic environment with rolling hills, farmland, and meandering streams. The village benefits from the Checkers Village Shop and Post Office, a doctor’s surgery, and a Primary School. It also has a choice of great eateries, with some offering accommodation. Perfect for those longer visits!
