Charming and atmospheric Regency Country House venue with historic walled kitchen garden, woodlands and meadows. Events program includes visual arts, music, literature, dance. Day and residential retreats and community seasonal festivities such as a Halloween Lantern Walk, Christmas Fayre and Midsummer’s Day and open gardens for the NGS.
Individual rooms or exclusive use of whole house bookable for weddings, birthdays, memorials etc. as well as small scale conference facilities for a team away day with a historical twist! Delicious seasonal catering provided by our plant based kitchen featuring fruit and vegetables from the walled kitchen garden.
Ashley Court is an unusually unaltered example of a Regency gentlemen’s residence modelled on the grand estates of the 18th century scaled down to a domestic size.
Interesting Facts:
- Ashley Court was originally part of King Henry II’s hunting park and deer still roam around in the woodlands and grounds
- Ashley Court has been home to no less then 3 of Tiverton’s Mayors (John Upcott, Thomas Cosway and Captain William Dunsford
- The ‘Tiverton painter’ Richard Cosway, painter to George the III and IV would probably have stayed at Ashley Court with his uncle Thomas Cosway when he visited Tiverton as he never owned a house of his own in the town.
