The Grand Western Canal
Walk the length of the Grand Western Canal, a total of 11 3/4 miles and plan your stops along the way for refreshment in the many pubs / cafes you pass en route.
The towpath is mainly flat and smooth. There are a number of circular routes which are shorter you can take along the route, using the disused railway line between Tiverton and Manley Lane (circular route) or other minor road networks further along the route.
Suitable for families.
Starting at the Canal basin in Tiverton and follow the towpath.
You will pass through a number of villages on the way e.g. Halberton, Sampford Peverell and finish at Burlescombe.
Keep an eye out for the the wildlife along the way including the horse pulling the barge
