Hemyock, Uffculme and Culmstock Circuit
A leisurely 11 mile cycle ride (with a climb near the start), with an optional shorter route of 7 miles. This picturesque circular route takes you through the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, passing Coldharbour Mill and Culmstock Beacon.
Start: at the public car park in Hemyock (100 metres from the Catherine Wheel pub)
Main route (1 – 17)
- Turn left out of the car park and left just after the Catherine Wheel pub
- Turn right at Lickham Cross
- At crossroads (Leigh Cross) go straight, signposted Leigh
- At junction turn right
- At junction turn left
- At junction turn right, signposted Ashill, Uffculme
- At junction (Cemetery Corner) turn left onto main road, signposted Uffculme
- Turn right in Uffculme just before the Ostler Inn
- At Penslade Cross go straight over, signposted Penslade
- At junction turn right
- At crossroads (Higher Cross) go straight over, signpost Nicholashayne
- Turn first right
- At crossroads turn right onto main road, signposted Culmstock
- Turn left at village hall in Culmstock and then first right by red phone box
- Turn right at Whitehall Cross, signposted Hemyock
- At junction turn left, signposted Hemyock
- Turn right and return to car park
Shorter route (replaces stages 5 – 14)
For a shorter 7 mile route:
- At junction turn right, signposted Culmstock
- At junction turn right
- Turn first right after Culm Valley Inn and go through residential area to reach main road
- Turn right onto road

Please take extra care at busy junctions and bends. Take particular care between sections 1 and 2, along the main road into Uffculme, crossing the road at 9 and on the B3391 between 13 and 14 as these are busy roads.
