Tips for attending the Mid Devon Show this Saturday

With the show only 3 days away, it’s time to finalise your plans! Our top tips should help…

Saturday 23rd July 2022 will see people flock to Tiverton for the agricultural show displaying some of the best local produce, livestock, music and entertainment.  Here are some handy tips for the day:

#Tip 1 – The Mid Devon show is a full packed day, therefore plan ahead.

Check out the weather forecast and plan appropriately.  If the heat continues into the weekend, remember your hat and sun lotion. There are plenty of food and drink options at the show but if you prefer to take a packed lunch that is permitted. Remember your drinks bottles to stay hydrated, especially if it’s hot; there are plenty of toilets dotted around the site.

If you are driving to the show, you are allowed to return to your car throughout the day. Therefore, leave any extra items you don’t need in the car as you can collect them later if required (just make sure you get your hand stamped at the gate to return to the show and don’t leave any valuables on show). Dogs are welcome but you must keep them on a short lead (do not leave them in your car).

#Tip 2: Grab a programme on arrival

Spend a few minutes marking the performances and acts you would like to see.  You can then plan your route around the show in order to see everything.

This year’s show will be packed full of entertainment with something for everyone, making it one of Devon’s best days out and Mid Devon’s largest event of the year. The main ring headline act this year will be a Freestyle Motorbike Stunt Show performing breathtaking jumps and stunts. In addition to the normal favourites, the Dartmoor Hill Pony Display Team, Young Farmers, Vintage Tractor Parade and The Diamond Twirlers will all perform in the ring.

The famous Food Hall has over 50 producers from across the South West with both local offerings and tastes from across the world. The Magpie Market Marquee has 60 artisan traders with an eclectic mix of products to tempt you. A brand-new Craft Marquee will be home to all our local crafters with products manufactured from raw materials.

Don’t forget to visit our stall too (N115) where you can pick up a copy of our farm shop and farmers’ markets trail.

#Tip 3 – Plan your travel arrangements ahead of the event.

If you are coming by car do not follow your sat nav; simply follow the signs as you enter Tiverton. Parking is free but you will be parking on grass (if it gets muddy, tractors will be on hand to pull you out!). Check out the Mid Devon show website for bus routes and park and ride: Getting Here – Mid Devon Show

Getting to the showground: The Show is set in the beautiful parklands of Knightshayes (National Trust), overlooking Tiverton. Parking is free if you are coming by car or there is a free bus service from Cullompton.  For those coming from further afield, there will be park & ride sites around the Tiverton area.

#Tip 4 – To secure an early bird ticket visit:  https://www.middevonshow.co.uk/tickets/ .

Tickets are cheaper if you purchase them in advance.  Children under 15 are free with a paid accompanying adult, making it an affordable day out for the family.

#Tip 5 – Make the most of your visit with an overnight stay

If you are looking to stay in Mid Devon while visiting the show, please see our accommodation page for camping, self-catering, B&B and hotel options.  There are lots of eateries around the showground and places to visit if you are making a weekend of it. Book before to avoid disappointment.
