The Flock that Rock – Tiverton Swan Trail 2024

Launched Wednesday 3rd April 2024.

From Easter 2024, Tiverton invites families, art enthusiasts and locals alike to embark on a journey through the heart of our charming town with the unveiling of The Flock that Rock – Tiverton Swan Sculpture Trail.

Tiverton Swan Trail promises to be a wonderful blend of art, nature, and community. Elegant swans, each with a unique design by a local artist, will be placed at key locations around the town, transforming Tiverton into a scene of artistic expression.

Grab a trail map from Wednesday 3rd April and start your swan adventure.

Why do I need a trail map?

The map will guide you around the town to find all 12 swans. It will provide information about each swan, their artist and has a few activities to entertain everyone along the way. To receive your FREE trail badge you will need to present your completed trail map to a member of staff at Tiverton Library or The Tourist Information Centre.

To help plan your day, above is a map of the trail which highlights the two points (orange stars) where you can collect your badge.

If you have been inspired by our swans, you can decorate your own at Happy Glaze Pottery and receive 10% when you present your completed trail guide (logo/location is on the map), booking is essential.

Where can I get a trail map?

Trail maps will be available from the Tourist Information Centre (at Tiverton Museum) and the Visitor Centre at the Canal Basin from Wednesday 3 April 2024 and Tiverton Library from 4th April (closed on Wednesdays). Twelve swans will be located around the town, with a naughty escapee 13th swan, ‘Swanning Around’, to find.

On a Sunday please head to Happy Glaze Pottery or Bridge Troll.

Where can I collect my free completion badge?

On completion head to Tiverton library or the TIC with your completed trail guide and the friendly staff will hand you your Flock That Rock badge. On a Sunday, please head to Happy Glaze Pottery or Bridge Troll to collect your well deserved badge!

How long does it take to complete the trail?

If you are completing the trail in one go, we would allow 2.5/3hrs to venture around Tiverton, allowing time for the children to play in the parks etc. However, you can easily make a day of it, by enjoying lunch at many of the towns wonderful eateries, visiting an attraction (Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life, Tiverton Castle, Happy Glaze Pottery) or shopping (Tiverton has lots of independent retailers to discover).

What is Swanning Around and where can I find him?

Our mischievous 13th swan ‘Swanning Around’ keeps flying around town, popping up in shop windows, attractions, events in Tiverton and further afield in the area. Clues of his whereabouts will be shared on Facebook, if you find him, please post his location to @TheFlockThatRock – so we can bring him back to the flock!

How can I learn more about the artists?

You can learn more about our talented artists through a series of mini bios published on our Facebook page.

Here is a sneak-peak at some of our swans receiving their first splash of colour from our artists:
