The Flock That Rock AUCTION

Celebrate the flock with us!

Own a Piece of The Flock That Rock – Tiverton Swan Trail and bid at the Swan Auction.

The Flock That Rock will be migrating from Tiverton town centre soon (Sunday 3 November is the last day of the trail), therefore we are thrilled to announce you can win a swan of your own at our Swan Auction.

You can own a beautiful, custom-designed swan created by local artists. Each swan is a unique work of art, part of the beloved Swan Trail, and proceeds will go toward supporting community tourism and cultural projects that benefit the wider district.

We have teamed up with Adam Partridge Auctioneers to make it a night to remember!

Event Details:

Date: Thursday 7 November 2024

Time: 6:30pm start (doors open at 6pm)

Location: The New Hall

This is your chance to take home a piece of the Swan Trail—a collection of artistically designed swans that have become loved by our community. These stunning sculptures, each designed by a talented local artist, are more than just art. They represent the spirit and creativity of our town, and now, you can own one of these iconic pieces! See all the swans together for the last time. Meet and greet the artists and get up close with each swan.

There will be 3 ways to bid:

  • Online: Can’t make it in person? No problem! You will be able to place your bids online.
  • In-Person: Join us at the live auction event to experience the excitement first-hand. View the swans up close, meet the artists, and bid in person.
  • By Phone: Stay connected to the action by calling during the event to place your bid remotely.

More information detailing how to register will be available soon on the Adam Partridge Auctioneers website. For now, please mark the date in your diary!

Your chance to win Swanning Around:

In order to recognise this project was a community project for everyone to embrace, Swanning Around will be sold via a raffle, to provide an opportunity for anyone to own a swan. The draw will take place at the auction and tickets can be purchased from Tiverton Tourist Information Service and from a range of stalls or café at Tiverton Pannier Market.  Tickets can be purchased for £1 from the following: Ria’s Café, Kellands Fruit & Veg, The Healthy Root. Please see the Terms and Conditions for more information.

What will the money go towards?

The project was supported by the Shared Prosperity Fund with the aim to promote Mid Devon and increase visitors to the area. Therefore, proceeds will go back into a funding pot for community organisations to bid towards supporting tourism and cultural projects.

Rosie has a special role to play:

The project’s legacy will live on through our swan Rosie who will nest in the Visitor Centre at the Grand Western Canal for all to see and enjoy. There will be information boards in the centre to explain how the flock took over Tiverton.

Swan details for bidders:

The swans are 620mm H, 480mm W, 900mm L, each swan is made from fibreglass from a unique mould, created for this project.  Weighing 14kg due to the mesh support and brackets. Artists used acrylic paint to prevent the design running from the anti-graffiti finishing coat. Winners are welcome to have the swans matching concrete plinth (1200mm x 650mm x 300mm H), with 2 channel recesses underneath and smooth concrete finish. Weight approx. 490kg however, collection and machinery costs to transport will be down to the buyer.

The auction will be a community celebration of the trail, come and meet the artists and see all the swans together before the fly-off to their forever homes!
