AFTERNOON TEA
Afternoon tea is a popular tradition in Devon and a memorable event to share with a friend or loved one. You will find a range of afternoon tea delights, in stunning grounds, paired with champagne or gin for a luxury afternoon, or a pot of tea for a relaxed celebration!
Normally served with traditional sandwiches, fresh scones with jam and clotted cream (remember the cream goes first in Devon!) and succulent sweet pastries and cake.
Whatever your tipple or celebration, there is a version for everyone’s TASTE in Mid Devon. Whether you want a tea for two or a group booking, it’s the perfect treat for you and a group of friends, to mark a special occasion in style!
EXPERIENCES , EVENTS AND TRAILS
You can easily lose a morning or afternoon in one of our larger farm shops, with pick your own (PYO) strawberries, raspberries and pumpkins (seasonal) – experience the ‘pop’ sound a ripe strawberry makes when you pull it from its stalk. Other experiences on offer in Mid Devon include wine tasting at Wellhayes vineyard, perry tasting at Rull Orchard, and for the connoisseur, Sip Shed, offer wine & whiskey tasting evenings, to cocktail mixo classes and can provide a car service for you (depending on distance). Personal brewery tours can be arranged with a number of our producers and food courses such as cheese making with Quicke’s.
Mid Devon celebrates its local produce at a number of events from Cullompton’s Food and Drinks Festivals to Pop up Artisan Markets at Bridwell to street food events at Tiverton Pannier Market and regular Farmers’ Markets at Crediton, Cullompton and Uffculme. The Mid Devon Show is a true celebration of rural life and our food and drink offer alongside great entertainment, shopping, music, horticulture and farm life. LOCAL PRODUCERS
In Mid Devon we are very lucky to be surrounded by rich soil and plenty of countryside. These provide the space to grow the ingredients (vegetables, fruit, berries, vines, trees and grass for cattle) to fill our farm shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants making flavoursome dishes and drinks. Many of our eateries source Mid Devon’s local produce and you can easily pick up local items for your culinary meals and picnic baskets at our farmers’ markets and food shops. Our Farmers’ markets will be putting on special events over the next few months.
