Taste Mid Devon – Field to Fork Project
MULTIMEDIA ‘FIELD TO FORK’ PROJECT TO SHOWCASE MID-DEVON’S FINEST FOOD AND DRINK
Here at Mid Devon District Council, we have generated a ‘Taste Mid Devon’ which is all about promoting our local producers through a ‘Field to Fork’ project. This project will document the journey our produce takes from the field to the fork (or glass!), to promote the great food & drink we have on offer here in Mid Devon.
‘Field to Fork’ will immerse you in the vibrant food scene of Mid Devon – where flavours harmonise, local artisans excel, and captivating narratives accompany each bite. In an exciting new digital venture, we’re bringing you a sneak peek into the world of Mid-Devon’s talented food and drink creators.
Becky Craven, who lives in the heart of the county near Tiverton, secured the ‘Taste Mid-Devon’ contract from Mid-Devon District Council, supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Working closely with ten chosen producers and their associated retailers/eateries throughout summer and autumn, Becky will showcase businesses such as Rull Orchard, Appledore Farm Eggs, Quicke’s Cheese, Wellhayes Vineyard, Bakers Devon Honey, and Ellises Farm.
Becky’s lens will take you on a visual journey from the very beginning – the fields where these incredible ingredients are cultivated – all the way to the final products that grace your plate.
Through vivid photographs and engaging videos, you’ll witness the entire ‘field to fork’ process like never before. The resulting collection will be shared across Visit Mid Devon’s social media platforms and the Visit Mid Devon website.
More than just a culinary celebration, this project is an ode to community. It’s a genuine collaboration that pledges to showcase the finest aspects of local businesses and illuminate the stories of the individuals driving its success.
Becky said: “I am thrilled to have won this contract, as collaboration is at the heart of my business. I live in Mid Devon and I am passionate to work with other local food and drink suppliers. I can’t wait to start, help local businesses to blossom and grow by creating outstanding photos and videos for them.”
Zoë Lentell, Economic Development Team Leader at Mid Devon District Council added “we aim to create a visual chronicle of the journey our produce takes from the field to the fork (or glass) to celebrate the great food and drink we have on offer here. Mid Devon is rich in agriculture, known for our fresh local produce and quality of taste. Through this showcase, we hope to awaken interest in buying locally, encouraging people to reconnect with food, understand the local food journey and the independent business community it supports and rediscover amazing flavours in the process.”
Make sure to keep an eye on our socials for updates as the project progresses and some behind the scenes footage!
