Country Shows

The Mid Devon Show is our headline event and a real highlight on our calendar! The one day agricultural show is one of the very best in the South West and this year marks their 30th anniversary! It is a fun filled day jam packed with entertainment and one not to be missed! This year’s show takes place on Saturday 22nd July. Want to get ahead of the game? Check out our top tips for visiting the show to make the most of the day.

The Uffculme Show and Country Fayre rounds off the summer on Saturday 3rd September. Taking place at Bridwell Park, this is another fun-filled family day out, complete with a classic vehicle show.

Festivals

We’re spoilt for choice with festivals in Mid Devon!

Bradninch Rocks 2023 on Saturday 15th July has live music, tasty local food & drink, and lots of other fun activities going on throughout the day.

Withyfest is a small festival with a big festival feel! There are three performance areas, a dub tent and dance tent plus lots of fun activities and workshops for kids. This year’s Withyfest takes place from 20th to 23rd July.

Altitude is the little festival with a big heart. This family friendly music festival in Blackborough has a range of musicians, bands and DJs from an eclectic mix of genres. Plus local food and drink and lots of activities. 27th – 29th July.

Beautiful Days is an independent family festival taking place at Escot Park, with several stages, art installations, crafts area and huge children’s area. 18th to 20th August.

2023 is the 30th anniversary of the Grand Western Canal 10K! Whether you’re taking part in the run or not, you can join in with the festival that follows the event. The festival includes live music, food stalls, entertainment, inflatables, bar and special guests for all to enjoy, all in aid of charity Young Lives Vs Cancer.

Special Event Days

The Bear Trail is celebrating its 7th birthday this year! To mark the occasion they are celebrating with a special anniversary event on 15th and 16th July, when tickets will be only £7! Celebrating 7 Years

Coldharbour Mill has a number of special events coming up over the summer! Join them for a Summer Fayre on 30th July or save the date for their Summer Steam Day, a chance to see their magnificent machinery in action and soak up the sights and sounds of the Industrial Revolution.

Tiverton Museum is thinking about what they want to do when they grow up this summer with their special Jobs themed trail. As well as their trail which runs all summer, and regular Crafty Tuesdays, try your hand at archaeology with their Dig It! days on Thursdays 3rd and 17th August, or go behind the scenes with their Mini Curators experiences on Thursdays 10th and 24th August.

Dunkeswell Airfield is marking its 80th Anniversary this summer with a celebratory weekend on the 5th and 6th August. See aircraft on display and lots of activities to celebrate this unique part of Mid Devon’s history and the part it played in World War Two.

Stage and Screen

Tiverton Community Arts Theatre has plenty of great shows on offer from live music

to comedy.

There’s an abundance of outdoor entertainment this summer! From Shakespeare at Crediton Arts Centre, Killerton and The Walronds to Top Gun in the ground of Knightshayes. Check out our round up of outdoor entertainment for more details.

Tivoli Cinema in Tiverton has lots of offer, from current blockbusters to family classics. Look out for their special offers for families with low cost tickets and popcorn included.

Open Gardens

Discover beautiful gardens through the National Open Garden Scheme. Explore Kia Ora near Cullompton, Ashley Court just outside Tiverton, Lewis Cottage and Pounds. Head to the What’s On page to find dates and details.

Markets and Fayres

Silverton Street Market takes place on Saturday 5th August. As well as food and drink stalls you’ll find lots of entertainment, from music to magicians! This year’s theme is One Planet, celebrating sustainability.

Bridwell’s Artisan and Makers Markets are hugely popular, featuring a wide range of quality stalls showcasing local creatives with art, gifts, crafts, food and much more!

Our Farmer’s Markets are some of the best around. Discover field to fork produce and fabulous flavours, right from the producers. Crediton, Cullompton and Tiverton all have monthly markets. Check the What’s on page to find out market dates or check out our Farm Shops and Farmers’ Markets Trail.
