Cullompton is a great place to eat out in an area of unique heritage.
Cullompton has established itself as a food town with a number of quality eateries for the size of the High Street. There is an array on offer from Italian, Chinese, Indian, Mediterranean, Burger, Artisan and pop-up restaurants, which makes it an ideal place to visit if you love your food. The town also has a number of pubs and cafés and even boasts a cocktail lounge!
The town is full of independent shops along its High Street and there is a real buzz about the town, especially when Cullompton’s award-winning Farmers’ market is in the Bullring. Taking place twice a month on the second and fourth Saturdays, you can find a wide range of local products with an opportunity to talk to the producers.
Cullompton town centre is within a conservation area and the town’s rich heritage can be seen throughout the High Street. Take a walk along the tree-lined streets and look up at the historic and interesting architecture; you may be surprised by what you see. The town has a number of active groups which promote Culm Valley’s art and culture, and facilitate community events e.g. regular food festivals and an Artisans Fair at the Walronds. There is also a Heritage Trail to discover the town’s role in producing cloth and clothing which families can do together – you can pick up a leaflet from the library.
