Mid Devon has seen a number of eateries pop up just before and throughout the pandemic.
Here are 10 of Mid Devon’s newest eateries for you to try:
1. The Duck and Bean, Tiverton
Tucked away in Tiverton town centre, The Duck and Bean is a great surprise, with indoor and outdoor seating provided in their courtyard. Serving breakfast, brunch, lunch and evening meals, they have a variety on offer from light bites to a three course meal. They also have a doggie menu to cater for your four-legged friends!
2. Fordmore Café, Cullompton
Fordmore Farm Shop’s café serves breakfast, brunch and lunch, not to mention their delicious cakes and coffee and has become very popular with locals. Their ethos is to serve local, seasonal, fresh produce and you can take the produce home with you from their farm shop next door. It’s a hit with children as you can visit the paddocks to see the chickens, pigs, goats and ducks.
3. JB’s Café, Tiverton Pannier Market
A busy little café and burger bar located in the Pannier Market, ideal if you are wanting to grab something on the go!
4. The Lost Kitchen, Chettiscombe
In a picturesque setting looking out at the rolling hills, The Lost Kitchen has a Mediterranean feel with wood-fired cooking and a seasonally inspired brunch and lunch menu. Known for making their organic pizza dough and delicious puddings. You can eat inside the converted cider barn or dine on the terrace in the sunshine.
5. Mrs Gill’s, Tiverton
In the heart of Tiverton town centre in Market Walk, Mrs Gill’s Country Cakes restaurant is a great choice for a quick coffee or a 3 course meal. They cover breakfast, lunch and evening meal and can cater for parties big and small. Take a break from shopping and pop in for their award-winning cakes!
6. The Orangery Café at Bridwell, Uffculme
As a result of the pandemic forcing wedding and party bookings to postpone, the team at Bridwell took the positive step to set-up the Orangery café for the local community to enjoy their beautiful grounds, get a glimpse of the deer roaming the fields and grab a light bite from a menu created with local suppliers.
7. Porter’s Bar & Grill Restaurant, Cullompton
Porters is a modern restaurant in the heart of Cullompton, where you can enjoy homemade dishes including great steaks and tasty burgers. Pop in for a morning coffee and snack, a lunchtime light bite or treat yourself to an evening out. They also offer a great selection of cocktails, ciders, wines and spirits.
8. Ruby Red Café, Thorverton
Open 7 days a week, offering a daytime menu full of local produce, this café is popular with cyclist, walkers and food lovers. Situated along the Exe Valley, the location is a perfect spot to meet friends and family for lunch. It’s also home to Exe Valley Farm Shop, therefore you can pick up a food hamper and do a little shopping before you leave. Keep an eye out for their family fun days – the kids will want to go!
9. The Round House Café, Willand
Set in a beautiful thatched Roundhouse within Muddifords Court. This café is part of Kingwood Children’s Kindergarten and Family Centre making it a very child-friendly café within beautiful grounds to enjoy your coffee and cake.
10. Wedges Sandwich Bar and Café – Crediton
Based in Crediton High Street offering take away and a dine-in service, this is a popular café known for its breakfasts and tall stacked burgers. With a selection of sandwiches and cakes, it’s a great place to pop in for lunch.
