Mid Devon Business Event 2022
Mid Devon businesses within the leisure, tourism and hospitality sector are invited to attend a free business event at Tiverton Hotel on Wednesday 18 May 2022 from 6pm. Hosted by Mid Devon District Council’s partnership project: Visit Mid Devon.
The event is being organised to support Mid Devon’s businesses which were hit hardest by the pandemic. The event will see accommodation providers, eateries, attractions, food & drink producers, event organisers, boutique retail and leisure facilities come together for the first time in three years (since the last business event in 2019).
Amy Dugard, Growth and Regeneration Officer states
“The free evening event is designed to support our businesses post COVID focusing on the needs of the leisure, tourism and hospitality sectors and their suppliers. Guest speakers will be reflecting on the lessons learnt during the pandemic and the trends which have emerged. Speakers and partner organisations will offer advice and insight on current issues facing our businesses, and explain how our businesses can engage in support, courses and advice to grow their business.”
“The event will create an opportunity for our businesses to network and promote their offer or service. We have a number of stands attending the event which will be able to provide advice and guidance regarding financial support, accreditations, courses, training and trading opportunities as well as promotional campaigns.”
The evening will host a number of guest speakers including Kate Doodson from Cosmic, discussing digital marketing following the pandemic. The pandemic has changed many things, including the way visitors use social media, websites and digital communication. Kate will share insights into what’s changed and highlight the platforms and methods that will attract and retain customers. Greg Parson from South West Food hub will be attending to discuss the benefits and opportunities for shorter food supply chains. A local supply chain supports local businesses and has a number of benefits for the local economy. Alistair Handyside from South West Tourism Alliance will be sharing his thoughts about tourism recovery and tourism’s future in the South West.
Cllr Richard Chesterton, Cabinet Member for Planning and Economy:
“Over the last two years there have been long periods of time which these businesses have been forced to close due to the COVID restrictions and it has been an extremely difficult time for our businesses. However, they have shown grit and determination and Mid Devon District Council are doing everything we can to support our local economy recover. We are pleased to be putting on this free event to celebrate their success and provide information and support for our businesses going forward.”
The event is free for Mid Devon businesses to attend on Wednesday 18 May from 6pm. Attendees must register at Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/314483969017
