How to make half term in lockdown fun!
February half-term is going to be a bit different this year… but that doesn’t mean it can’t still be fun! Here are a few ideas on how to make half term in lockdown fun with some activities to keep the kids busy while sticking to the restrictions.
Get outside
Jump in puddles, hop on your bikes, set a daily step goal, take a different turn and discover a new route, put together there a loads of ideas for making a walk in your local area mo

Visit a local outdoor attraction
You can still plan a trip out to break up the usual local walks. Book a visit to the grounds at Knightshayes , enjoy a hot chocolate and a stroll at Bridwell or wander round the lake at Shobrooke Park.
Have a Bumper Half Term
Recreate Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life‘s Bumper Half Term at home by printing out some fun railway themed activities, available free on their website.
Celebrate Harry Potter Book Night
They can’t invite you in for their usual Harry Potter Book Night event but Bampton Library and Resource Centre still want to celebrate all things Potter with you! Get creative with your wizards in training and make Harry Potter toilet roll characters and a Diagon Alley on a plate! Share your crafty creations with them via email or on their facebook page for a chance to win prizes.

Make the most of Pancake Day!
Get everyone involved in pancake day this year! Let your budding chefs help make the batter, have a go at flipping pancakes and choose some weird and wonderful topping combos! Don’t forget to support local when you’re buying your ingredients.
Get out in the garden
If you’re lucky enough to have your own outdoor space, now is the time to make the most of it! Build a den, create a scavenger hunt, have a garden olympics or footy tournament day complete with medals or create an obstacle course with plant pots, garden canes and whatever else you have lying around! If you’re feeling a bit more green fingered pick up some seeds from your local garden centre and sow some flowers or vegetables.
Have a themed day
Pirates, Frozen, dinosaurs, fairies, a day at the beach… whatever they are in to, go all out and have a full on themed day! Fancy dress, food, accents, games and films… head to Pinterest for lots of ideas to fill a whole day!
Write a letter
We’ve got so many ways of communicating instantly now have your little ones ever written an actual letter?! Who doesn’t love receiving real post? Dig out some nice paper and colourful pens and pencils and get them to sit down and write to a loved one.
Get Crafty
Enjoy some messy play creating pebble art, putting together a collage or making slime. Pinterest is your friend here with lots of creative ideas for getting crafty!
Remember to stay local, only travel a short distance for exercise outdoors and stick to all other guidelines in place at the time.
