What better place to stretch your legs than Mid Devon’s beautiful countryside! We’ve got it all; country lanes, well maintained footpaths, cross country trails and rolling hills. Hunt for bluebells in our beautiful woodlands, look out for wildlife along the Grand Western Canal or take a step back in time with a historical trail round one of our picturesque towns or villages. Whether you want to push yourself with a long distance trek or opt for a more leisurely stroll, Mid Devon can cater for all ages and levels of ability.

Lots of us have been able to get out walking like never before over the last year. Getting out for a walk is brilliant for boosting mental health, keeping us fit and healthy, and helping us discover new places! Have you been loving the extra time to explore your local area on daily walks during lockdown? Maybe you’re worried about finding the time to fit in a regular walk now restrictions are easing? Perhaps your bored of your usual route or not sure where to start. Explore our interactive walking map to discover new routes to try in Mid Devon. Look out for the map pins telling you about eateries and facilities on your route to help you get the most out of your walk.

Why not set yourself a challenge for National Walking Month? Complete 10,000 steps a day for the rest of the month, walk a little bit further on your regular route, try out a different route every weekend… whatever you choose to do, pull those walking shoes on and get walking in Mid Devon!
