Excitement builds for the Mid Devon Show – a true celebration of rural life
Preparations are in full swing for the 32nd annual Mid Devon Show, taking place on Saturday, 26th July.
With advance tickets now on sale at just £19 for adults (a saving on the £22 gate price), it’s the perfect time to secure your spot at one of Devon’s favourite family events. Better yet, children aged 15 and under go free when accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets are available online at www.middevonshow.co.uk, by calling 01884 820859, or in person at the Show Office in Halberton.
As a registered charity, the Mid Devon Show is dedicated to promoting the region’s rich agricultural heritage and supporting local education initiatives. Each year, the show provides scholarships to local young people, helping them pursue further education, gain valuable experiences, and achieve personal goals. This year’s nominated charity is the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI), with all proceeds supporting these important causes.
Show Organiser, Colin Nation promises an unforgettable experience:
“This year’s entertainment is simply phenomenal. Whether you’re visiting the Main Ring, Livestock Areas, Countryside Arena, Woof & Wag Dog Zone, or our vibrant Music Fest, there’s something for everyone. It truly is one of Devon’s Best Days Out.”
The Main Ring:
Headline acts in the Main Ring include the spectacular OG Performance Horses, bringing cinematic equestrian displays to Mid Devon. Audiences can also look forward to high-octane performances from The Rockets Motorcycle Display Team, along with traditional crowd-pleasers like the Tiverton Signpost Club, Young Farmers competitions, and the Classic Vehicle Parade.
Around the showground, families will enjoy attractions such as ferret racing, birds of prey displays, and the ever-popular Livestock Competitions, featuring cattle, sheep, pygmy goats, and heavy horses. The Devon Cavy Club returns with its adorable guinea pig competition, and the Pig Exhibition continues to be a visitor favourite.
This year’s expanded Woof & Wag Dog Area offers even more fun for four-legged friends, with a fun dog show, flyball demonstrations, and a brand-new Dog Agility Arena. Every canine participant receives a rosette—just turn up and join in!
A special highlight for animal lovers: Aldabra Giant Tortoises will be making a rare appearance. Visitors can enter their enclosure, learn about these gentle giants, and snap some unforgettable selfies.
Music lovers will be treated to a day-long line-up at the Music Fest Stage, featuring local choirs, bands, and a headline performance by “Take a Chance on Us” – a fantastic ABBA tribute band closing out the show.
Shoppers are in for a treat with an impressive selection of stalls:
- The Food & Drink Marquee hosts over 50 South West producers offering regional delicacies and global flavours.
- The Magpie Market Marquee features 50 artisan traders with unique handmade goods.
