Tiverton Bat Walk – Mid Devon Walking Festival
Join a member of the Canal Ranger Team on a leisurely stroll beside the canal in search of night-time residents including several species of bat which hunt along the waterway. After a brief introductory talk, we’ll head along the towpath sharing around some bat detectors to listen in on the bat’s echolocation calls and spot them with torchlight as they fly past.
Difficulty Level: Moderate – 1.5 miles on flat path with minor undulations to the surface (loose, compacted stone – not tarmac).
Booking Required: To book email gwcanal@devon.gov.uk or call 01884 254072. Please provide numbers of adults / children and a daytime telephone number.
Meeting Point: Tidcombe Bridge, Tidcombe Lane, Tiverton, EX16 4BP
Parking: Please contact walk host for further information.
Food and Drink: No
Useful Information: Friday evenings so children can stay up late to join us with no worries about school the next day. It is asked that dogs are not bought along on this walk. The walk is weather dependant and may need to be cancelled if it is cold, wet or windy as the bats won’t come out in those conditions.
For any questions, queries, bookings or availability information please contact the walk host.
