Coronation Celebration Tiverton

To celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III, Tiverton Town Council and the Town Centre Partnership are hosting a community day for all in the town centre on Saturday the 6 May.

“We wanted to create a day that was family-focused, inviting local residents old and new, and create a sense of togetherness. Our intention is to show that with a collective effort we can create a blueprint for town events that support our existing businesses and welcome others.

The town will be filled with flags, 4 of which will be the winners of a flag competition run within our local schools. The outcomes are beyond heart-warming and will be a truly beautiful addition to the town décor.

The Coronation Celebrations will begin at 10:00, starting off with the wonderful Town Band bringing a sense of tradition to the day.  We will then welcome four bands: Manuka at 11:00, Fyre Escape at 12:15, Conscious Club at 14:00 and BacktraX to end the day with a final set at 15:00. Each band is set to be fantastic, offering a broad range of music for all ages and tastes. In between sets there will be music played to fill the streets with a party atmosphere.

Throughout the town there will be a host of activities and craft stalls such as:

  • Flotsam and The Fool offering Circus Workshops
  • Unnamed Arts getting creative with flag making and providing an opportunity to get your face painted.
  • Sustainable Tiverton will have a stand showcasing smoothies made on a bike, and how to engage with community projects.
  • Creative Mojo will be making crowns.
  • Happy Glaze Pottery will have bookable sessions to come and paint a range of ceramics.
Prom Prom Events and Uncle Tackos Imaginarium, providing storytelling, a family flea circus, and much more.
  • Jamie Whyte – Creating a bespoke art piece live on the highstreet.

We also know that if you are spending the day with us, you might need some sustenance, so in addition to the wonderful businesses that exist in our town centre we wanted to offer a range of food from around the world and a couple of drinks stalls. We are beyond thrilled to be able to say there will be Thai, Australian BBQ, and Ice Cream to name a few.

We are excited to launch our community events on such a wonderful weekend; we encourage the public to dress up, wear costumes or bright clothes, and please bring a picnic chair and stay for a while.

We hope this is the start of many more bright days ahead and we look forward to seeing you all.”
