Explore the rich heritage of Mid Devon; visit museums (Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life, Crediton Museum or Bampton Heritage Centre, Cold Harbour Mill), castles, and historic houses (Knightshayes is a must). The area was very involved in the textile trade, especially lucrative woollen cloth in the 1600s and 1700s, which is reflected in some of the wonderful architecture of the towns, churches and country houses of Mid Devon.
A visit to the Grand Western Canal is required when you are in Mid Devon. A 11 mile natural reservation, home to lots of wildlife and activity. From fishing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Tiverton Canal Co run one of the last remaining horse-drawn barges in the country – hop on board!
