It’s nearly that time, when our towns light up with twinkling decorations, carols fill the air, and the festive season officially begins. Christmas light switch-ons are a highlight of the Mid Devon calendar, bringing together music, food, family fun and plenty of community cheer. Wrap up warm, grab a hot chocolate, and join the celebrations as Mid Devon gets glowing!
Tiverton – Saturday 22 November 2025
Tiverton Town Centre
Tiverton’s switch-on celebration is set to be a massive street party this year! Expect stiltwalkers, reindeer, live music, entertainers and festive activities across Fore Street, Phoenix Lane and the Pannier Market, all building up to the big switch-on at 6 pm.
Headlining the fun are Joey the Lips, bringing a full-throttle show of funk, soul, Motown, disco and pop classics guaranteed to have the whole town dancing. Wrap up, grab your Santa hat and get ready for a day of festive sparkle and music.
Cullompton – Saturday 29 November 2025
Cullompton Town Centre
Cullompton’s Community Celebration & Festive Fun starts with a tree-planting event at Upcott Field (10 am) before the afternoon comes alive with a local food market and street entertainment (2 – 6 pm) in The Bullring.
Expect stiltwalkers, folk bands, choirs, fire shows, and even Elf and Nutmeg the baby reindeer puppet!
At The Walronds, visit Father Christmas in his grotto before the big light switch-on at 6 pm. Don’t miss the Community Raffle: spend £10 with participating shops before 28 Nov for the chance to win a festive hamper, drawn during the event.
Crediton – Saturday 29 November 2025
Crediton Town Square (1 – 6 pm)
Join the crowds in Crediton’s Town Square as the community gathers for an afternoon of festive fun leading up to the Christmas light switch-on.
Enjoy live choirs, local stalls, food and drink, and seasonal entertainment throughout the day, a magical start to Christmas in the heart of Crediton.
Bampton – Friday 28 November 2025
Bampton Town Centre (from 3 pm – late)
Bampton’s Countdown to Christmas launch event promises a full evening of music, performances, art, Santa visits, gift stalls and family activities.
Highlights include the Christmas Tree Festival, festive window trail, steam wagon tours, brass band and seasonal suppers, all wrapped up with plenty of community spirit and sparkle.
