Afternoon Tea Week 2024
Did you know that Afternoon Tea Week 2024 takes place between 12th to 18th August?! It’s the perfect time to get friends and family together to indulge in this wonderful tradition. A typical Afternoon Tea includes some delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and jam (cream on first in Devon of course!) and a selection of little cakes, all accompanied with a pot of tea, a real sumptuous treat!
Mid Devon has some excellent establishments offering a range of delicious Afternoon Tea options. Why not enjoy yours with bubbles, or in beautiful surroundings.
Many of our venues offer homemade cakes and locally made scones, like the excellent offering at Bickleigh Mill, The Steamer Coffee House & Kitchen and The Bakehouse, where you can also add Prosecco to your experience! Or sample your tea in a unique location in the quaint garden of The Canal Tea Rooms with the Grand Western Canal just a stone’s throw away.
As well as a delicious traditional offering, you’ll find a savoury option at Elsie May’s, or even a High Tea in a box which you could enjoy back at your accommodation.
Sample a traditional Devon Cream Tea with sweeping views in a grand country estate at Fursdon. For a bit of extra indulgence enjoy your Afternoon Tea with champagne in the beautiful gardens at The Hartnoll Hotel.
Alternatively, if you’re self catering and want to make it a DIY affair, why not pick up the ingredients from our farm shops and bakeries and get your bottles from The Jolly Vintner or Grape and Grain WIne Merchants.
Each of the venues have their own offers and menus so check with the individual establishment to check its the right one for you and can meet all your requirements. Afternoon or High Teas often need to be booked in advance so do check with the venue.
