When you land in Mid Devon you will be surprised by the amount on offer, whether you are here as a couple for a short break or need to entertain the family for a week you will be amazed by the range of activities we have waiting for you.

There are loads of opportunities for the family to let off steam and enjoy fun activities both in and outdoors. Family friendly attractions include theme parks, adventure parks, water activities and soft play. Come rain or shine, there is plenty to keep the kids occupied.

Explore the rich heritage of Mid Devon by visiting museums, castles, and historic houses. The area was very involved in the textile trade, especially lucrative woollen cloth in the 1600s and 1700s, which is reflected in some of the wonderful architecture of the towns, churches and country houses of Mid Devon.

Mid Devon has some of the best countryside views with a wealth of natural beauty and wildlife, making it the perfect setting for walking, cycling and horse-riding.  Explore the rugged landscapes of Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks, or meander through the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty along one of the many official routes.

 Walking and Cycling

Honeycombed with footpaths, bridleways and cycle trails. Mid Devon makes a perfect place for a walking holiday. Lots of walks pass by a country pub creating an opportunity to enjoy some local produce to re-energize.  If you fancy a bit more speed we have cycle routes to suit all abilities, from short gentle rides to challenging long distance climbs.

Adventure Activities

For the thrill seekers, there’s plenty on offer here to get your adrenaline pumping.  Try the large muddy obstacle course, race a quad bike or head for the skies with a balloon ride.  With a number of rivers, lakes and the Grand Western Canal, we have water sports covered offering whitewater canoeing, boating and ‘stand up paddle boarding’.  Fancy a surf? Mid Devon is perfectly placed for you to easily visit Devon’s North and South coasts. Mid Devon is also a popular area for leisure holidays with a number of quality fishing lakes and golf courses, climbing walls, gardens and events.

Fishing

Whether your preference is stillwater or river water, Mid Devon has a plethora of options to fulfil your angling needs.  Visit our Fishing Lakes and Holidays page for a list of the different fishing holiday destinations, sites with day-tickets and member-only sites.  Most of our fishing clubs offer annual membership for only a small price with regular swims or beats so you can plan return visits to Mid Devon throughout the year.
