Reason 7 – Get Outdoors

Mid Devon has stunning countryside views, excellent walking and cycling routes and is brimming over with natural beauty and wildlife, making it the ideal place for an outdoor getaway.

Get back to Nature

Mid Devon is home to the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a tranquil landscape with diverse wildlife and beauty. Explore one of our beautiful hidden nature reserves or woodlands.

Adventure Seekers

For the thrill seekers, there’s plenty on offer here to get your adrenaline pumping. Try the large muddy obstacle course, race a quad bike or head for the skies with a balloon ride. With a number of rivers, lakes and the Grand Western Canal, we have water sports covered offering canoeing, boating and ‘stand up paddle boarding’.

Relax in the great outdoors

Mid Devon is also a popular area for leisure holidays with a number of quality fishing lakes and golf courses, gardens and events.

 Walking and Cycling:

Honeycombed with footpaths, bridleways and cycle trails. Mid Devon makes a perfect place for a walking holiday. Lots of walks pass by a country pub creating an opportunity to enjoy some local produce to re-energize.  If you fancy a bit more speed we have cycle routes to suit all abilities, from short gentle rides to challenging long distance climbs.

Explore Devon

Use Mid Devon as the perfect base to explore the rest of Devon. Discover the rugged landscapes of Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks for hiking or off-road mountain biking in untouched terrain. Marvel at the beauty of the north and south Devon coasts and access all sorts of water sports from surfing and paddle-boarding to coasteering and sailing.
